Bar
[definition]
This is one of the most common specific words used during a game of backgammon. It is also commonly named Roof or Rail. The term refers to a specific place on the board. Actually, it is the line or raised ridge right in the middle of the backgammon board. It has the double function to separate the inner (home board) and outer (outer board) tables and both players place their checkers on the bar when the checkers were hit. It is important to note that the bar itself is not counted as a space.
