Bearing off is an in-game situation and it can occur only after the move called bear in. One can easily guess that bearing off is the continuation of bearing in. The term covers the movements when a player starts to remove its checkers from his home board. Of course, the removal happens depending on the roll of the dice. Although it is a very common term in backgammon, it has a few synonyms: Throw Off, Take Off or even words which have no connection to the game, like Eat or Peel. |
