Break a Point
[definition]
This term is easy to understand even to those who did not play backgammon before, because the meaning does not differ so much from the term’s basic meaning. It basically means to remove a checker from one point which contained two checkers before, and so leaving the point open. The term has an opposite, it can be easily guessed: to make a point. In other words, the explanation could be that to break a point means to give up a point which was already owned by the player.
