Checkers
[definition]
Probably the most important word used during a game of backgammon. The term refers to the markers you play the game with. At the beginning of the game each player gets 15 checkers, all of the same color and the players will move the checkers around during the game, according to the movement of the dice. Of course, the colors of the checkers are different for both players, usually the two colors are black and white, but they might be other colors too. The checkers have a few other names also: men, pieces, stones, counters.
