Comfort Station
[definition]
This term has many synonyms in backgammon. Actually it refers to the thirteen-point (or the opponent’s twelve-point) or midpoint on the bar.

It is a good strategic point held by both players, usually at the beginning of the game, because occupying this point provides control of the outer board, and is also a good place for back checkers to land. In this case back checkers mean that a player’s checker is on the opponent player’s inner board. As you see, the comfort station is not only safe but very helpful too.
