A dead checker is a checker which is usually buried in the player’s inner board, and can not be used to build any points. It is called a dead checker because it is no use, a player can not make a point with the help of that specific checker. Because backgammon players use many words for checker, there is a synonym for dead checker too: Dead Man; they do not use the other synonyms of checker to form a term with this meaning.
